[ Campbell, Carolee ] Phillips, Dennis. Sophia’s Lament. [ Sherman Oaks ]: Ninja Press. 2012.
“Dennis Phillips’ poems are not only smart and beautifully made, they confront the world with considerable courage.”
“[T]he poetry of Dennis Phillips…along with its finely modulated unquiet, its grace under pressure, its intellective/affective generosity over three decades of rock-steady writing, and the cache of qualities still to be discovered…can I say, also, that it is lovely?”
Dennis Phillips has been writing poetry since before his first publication in 1985 and he remains an active poetic voice today. He is a Professor of Humanities and Science at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and on the faculty of the Graduate Writing Program at Otis College of Art and Design.
